The Serpent departs
10/11/2006 11:41 amThe Izzie is slinking about at our sister's place and taking advantage of the niecie going walkies to post a last squiggle from Amsterdam. This time tomorrow, will be flooing our way to Kuala Lumpur en route to Oz. So this is very likely our last visit to Cyberia from this side of the planet
Amsterdam is one of those places that could keep a serpent amused for weeks and weeks. So many museums and quirky old canal houses and never did get to tick the botanical gardens off our To Do list. But then you can't do everything. But we did see one amazing shop yesterday on one of the canal streets that sells nothing but tassels and the bits and pieces to make them yourself. Oh what drooling we did. But kept our paws in our pockets and was a good little serpent. Cannot quite explain our fascination and fondness for these decorative dangling delights. Sort of mysterious and magical conjuring up old fairy tales and decadent luxury. They really are rather pointless but so very very pretty.
Will have plenty of time to ruminate on the last 7 weeks adventures. At this stage, kept count of all those beans but never did dare do the totals of amounts snatched out of the vaults. We do keep impeccable records but data is not information and information is not knowledge. But we do suspect that we went waaaay over our original ration of about 300 euro per week spending money. Got a bit reckless after that week from hell at Dudley's dump and sort of felt we needed to make up for lost time. After all, money can be paid back but wasted time is gone forever.
It will be so strange to be arriving at the end of spring after a string of grey days. Most of the best stargazing opportunities were in Switzerland and Austria.
Still need to check what way the water runs down the drain in the bath tub.
So, it's goodbye from the Emerald Serpent till we get back to Oz and apologies once again for not leaving the usual calling cards in our friendses' Lairs.

Date: 2006-11-12 12:03 am (UTC)At the airport right now where they even have free portkeys. Only problem is - at that price, everyone wants to use them - even at 8 in the morning. Yessss. Seen all the departure times and the thought of another 12 hour trip to Europe right now just frightens the hell out of this serpent - with or without the Sultan of Spin.
Time to go. God only knows when we get our paws on our own Preciousss or some other portkey.
