izmeinaA quick squiggle to let the serpentine associates know that Izzie arrived alive and well in Dursleyville and will now slowly start catching up on Cyberian stuff in the next few weeks or so.
This is the first time getting reacquainted with the Preciousss apart from turning on the juice yesterday. Most peculiar - little bugger had 30% battery charge when we turned it off before departing but in the mean time must have been doing some sneaky stuff since it was all gone. (Wonders if computers have secret lives of their own and means of pushing the "On" button)
What is especially strange - well and truly used up those 35 days of dopy Dodo Dial up back in September but have not gotten a single solitary nasty message telling us that our account is due to expire and needs to be topped up (which you usually get for what seems like a week AFTER topping up) so this is most peculiar indeed. Expecting the buggers to notice any minute now but we are prepared. Got 40 hours top up yesterday at the post office but was just so so zonked that we never even listened to Late Night Live - let alone slinking in Cyberia
Will be back to work on Saturday. Dropped by today to check the roster because no one can be trusted to give such information accurately on the phone. It will be so so wierd - having been last in the place way back on 12th September this year.
The Izzie has no excuses now for staying there now that we have well and truly used up our long service and annual leave entitlements
It's raining which is just as well because the garden is a bit of a jungle. All the beans have died and the fig tree is just hanging on. On the other hand, for the first time our lime tree has itsie bitsie babies. Usually the flowers form but the fruit never sets. And the macadamia also has more than a handful of nuts.
And amazing. The Lair has been empty for 8 weeks or more but there's still dust everywhere. Dust that was not there when we left.
But the main thing now after shaking off the dementors and human white ants of Privet Drive is to find a new grand project to keep us enthusiastic while getting back on our feet and back to reality and the icky stickie yuckie Aussie summer.

Date: 2006-11-17 03:32 pm (UTC)Izzie does not have to go job hunting but our main excuse for not doing so was wanting to wait until we were entitled to long service leave in that house elf job. That was in May 2005 but our grand European Adventure got postponed until a year later. Wanted originally to go in October 2005 but the departure of the bestest boss ever in April 2005 in the most nasty of circumstances precipitated such an emotional roller coster ride that we ended up using up leave simply to avoid dementors and planning such a thing as a grand tour was beyond our capabilities at the time. But now we've been and done that, there's no excuses at all except plain simple procrastination and laziness.
Oh, the phone - we got rid of it way back before our Middle Earth Adventures in February 2003 but due to the closure of the local nasty net cafe (with all the squawking warring chickenhawks) in November 2005 - was simply no alternative but to get the phone back. Not being within walking distance of a portkey during evening hours was simply a sacrifice to big to make. So since Mid january, got the phone back again on a cheapie prepaid scheme which means rental of 13.90 silver sickles per month instead of the usual outrageous 30 or so but it does mean having to dial a ten digit code when we want to ring anywhere - even local numbers. We got that all programmed for the Preciousss so it's not a problem. But on the rare occasion that we do get a phone call while online, the little bugger hangs up. Same used to happen in the ma's place with dial up before she converted to broadband
