Izzie squees and hisses and does happy nano dance! Hit the big 40,000 only just now so that makes about 5 days since the start of the month that the serpent actually exceeded the daily expectations
Last Thursday and Friday should have been among them but that was before the Big Bad Freeze
Google docs was playing nice today for a change
But the serpent soul wasn't!
Usually the problem is to have all the words and ideas but being unable to get them down due to sucky muggle technology and piles of spinning bouncing beachballs of doom
Today was the day of hitting the infamous Wall - but there was 3,000 words that had to be conjured out of somewhere. Yesterday was all the S**** slash, contents of nonexistent books and incidents in Room 666. But any more of that and folks will be thinking Izzie is channeling a certain cat ;)
So the Izzie just got out the dark deck of doom and picked out the 16 or so cards that never did turn up during the course of the story and started writing descriptions and stories to go with each one. Not just what's happening but what the critters may be thinking and what is going to be happening next. The inner serpent should be able to get some leads out of that stuff. Will sleep on it and see
Got about 3,000 words out of that and if the muses do not arrive with some pink and fluffy padding for tomorrow, will go digging back in that deck and go through every one of the other 60 something cards if need be. No need to separate the subtle from the gross. It's all good ;)
(Last time Izzie tried to type that particular sentence - Google decided to interpret it to mean 'It's all gone' and proceeded to annihilate the whole 30 something thousand words accumulated up to that point. Not exactly confidence inducing. Thank God for python paranoia about backups

Date: 2009-11-26 03:57 pm (UTC)It's not the story that's the problem for Izzie but the stupid word processing programs
In a way - the ridiculous deadline is liberating - as the nano nuts say - November is for writing and December is for editing
Used to have a couple on the computer but after doing a complete reinstall of the operating system back in February 2008, didn't bother putting them back
The basic text edit prog does not do word count or even autosave so it's most iffy indeed but still better than useless google
Was having a really productive and inspired day last Thursday when the stupid thing stopped saving.
So decides not to let that get in the way and goes and posts the chapter in progress that evening over in dreamwidth - as a private entry so Izzie thought - well it was but there was two of them and one was not private. By the time we noticed that and got it all zapped and stuff, the muse was pretty peeved and long gone
Since then, been spending more time rewriting and rescuing stuff that Google dumped into the Black Hole instead of getting on with the story (Google keeps everything but you still got to go sifting through the old versions trying to find what's gone missing from the newest one)
Only just caught up the last two days and hopefully on Sunday will be back in the land of the living and will finally catch up on all the Oz adventures
