What a difference a day makes. Monday afternoon and all of Tuesday were so horrid and humid. Spent half the evening hopping in and out of the shower.
Suddenly Wednesday and today are all crisp and crunchy. Was up watching the sun rise this morning and finding it hard to believe that it is December. Such beautiful weather and a maximum of only 24 celsius is predicted. Really strange in December but definitely welcome

The gas man has been and gone. Of course - the usual saga - some part that he does not have with him. With yet another long weekend and all that, he will not be back until Monday.
At least he won't charge the call out fee twice
At least that will provide the chance to put some cash on the plastic. It's the only way to find out the balance. Got some serious bean counting and budgeting to do in the next month or so
Next time a lump sum appears in the Izzie's life, will stash it safely straight away and not leave it lying around in the bank account slowly slipping through the serpent fingers.
It somehow shrunk from $$1,000 to just over half of that with not much really to show for it.
It plus two fortnight's rent was supposed to be the stash to buy the Big Mac. The rule was it had to be bought with savings.
With all the plumbing and gas disasters, ended up cheating which means that after an exemplary record of being in the black all year, starting the next decade in the red. Not good at all
One month should sort it out but the start of a new year is not a good time to start bad habits

There is one old bad habit that once again has peeked on the radar. The serpent stash has got to stop. Been trying to put an end to this one for ages and ages with no success. Will need to resort to sneakiness and treachery
But for the next year there is absolutely no need at all to buy any more books and for the next two months certainly no munchies except milk, butter, bread and the odd vegie or two
It's embarassing to find stuff like Oblaten, sourdough starter, wasabi powder and little bottles of Japanese vinegars from the big binge in the Bio-laden way back in November 2006!

The serpent is rather more of a gemini airhead than she would ever care to admit - where the planning and anticipation of some event - be it reading a book, baking a cake or making sushi or sourdough bread, making our very own copy of Advanced Potions Making or anything at all - it's far more real than doing the thing itself which invariable rarely happens
There's just so much more hope and enthusiasm in the world of potential and possibilities than in the world of realities.

There's no need to pick a random card as the theme for 2010
This one is just perfect

This must be just about the scariest incarnation of the miser card ever.

It's not that the serpent is mean and cheap and nasty but is rather surrounded by stashes of security blankets in all shapes and sizes that are now becoming stifling.
But this year discovered that it was possible to light a spark to get into action and to actually use this stuff instead of just drooling over it like Scrooge McDuck in his mansion counting all the gold coins in his money bags

It's time to slink off and pack a picnic. There's lots of cheese to choose from.

Have a good picnic and fingers crossed for it to stay cool for a few days more.

It has been quite pleasantly cool over here on the East Coast for the Christmas Season - though a bit humid after all that rain we inherited from the remnants of the the Indian Ocean spawned cyclone. The farmers liked it.

Wierd and Wonderful Weather

It was a gorgeous picnic but with a slight change in the menu and the weather was breezy and gorgeous. There were rather less folks than usual down on the beach - it was too cold and windy for them all and also most likely - being back on real time - sunset has now moved an hour further away from midnight
The last three years had been very crowded

But the folks in Toodyay were not so lucky with the weather. Lots of houses were burned down. It's especially sad soon after Christmas. All that money spent on things and most of them all gone. It was a miracle no one died but that probably had a lot to do with the very fresh memories of what happened in the Victorian bush fires. More folks than usual chose to leave and a lot earlier than they normally would have done
The fires are likely to have been caused by badly maintained electric poles. So many fires here in the wild west have started from power poles including one in the very same town in 2007 where people died.
The electric co has still not paid compensation for that and will be just as weaselish this time

Heard about all your rain. The weather sure is wacky lately
