Even without knowing it, the serpent survival strategy has been "To bear the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" rather than "taking arms against a sea of troubles"
But weakness is no longer an option. And weakness is one of those self fulfilling prophecies. Eventually going to ridiculous lengths to avoid conflict ends up creating more trouble than nipping the bullies in the bud in the first place.
It is exactly 28 years ago on Wednesday 7th February 1990 that I first encountered one Hilde Johnson of Hamburg and the boss from hell. This was the blond blue eyed Aryan bitch that I later called Heil Hilde.
It was a trial run working in the kitchen of a posh nursing home in the outer suburbs of Hamburg. She gave me 50 Deutschmarks as compensation for the 8 hours work and the cost of the train to get there. Then a month later in my very first pay check she deducted it as an 'advance payment'. That is the sort of cold heartless callous bitch she was
My rational stupid muggle self ignored the screaming of the inner serpent to run ten thousand miles away from the monster. But it was the only job I could find at the time so I ignored the wise inner voice who then had a sulking hissy fit before drawing the red line exactly one year later.
There have been several such blond blue eyed Aryan bosses appearing in the serpent's life since then. I think the message has become increasingly difficult to ignore. This is the year where I must learn to banish them and their ghosts for once and for all.
For this serpent, the political is very personal. The only thing more interesting for me than the nature of reality is the nature of power. It turns out to be the silver thread in just about all my interests. From the books "Animal Farm" and "1984", The Potter series and "The Hunger Games", the history of dictatorships, Goblin porn, whistleblowers and politics.
Since January 2017 we now have a worldwide experiment on how to deal with the big bad bully boss from hell. Going along to get along is definitely no longer an option.
