The Long Good Friday

izmeinaI have been musing about habits both good and bad more than usual in the last few weeks
Firstly on account of several habits that I have had to put on hold due to the present unusual state of affairs
No coffee crawls, no visits to heritage or garden festivals and no pilgrimages to Eden Vale for even more green garden goodness
Also for the last six years or so since leaving the house elf slavery of that old nursing home job (so so glad not to be there now) I have been able to indulge in visits to Fremantle's annual street arts festival. This takes place over the Easter Long weekend. It used to start on Saturday but in recent years they added Good Friday too. I guess God did not approve because they had to cancel so many performances due to hail storms and thunder on Good Friday last year
This year of course the whole festival has been cancelled. So it was strange to be pottering around the lair instead of being out and about being a culture vulture
But there is one rather bad habit that can still continue in these strange days
By early 2016 my BS psycho radars were on red alert to the antics of one donald j trump. He had appeared on the serpent radar after his infamous descent down the golden escalator of hell in June or July 2015 when he announced his intention to run for president of the USA
All that talk about Mexican rapists was rather reminiscent of an infamous historical figure who used the scary JEWS as his platform to ascendancy
But it was the documentary "You've been trumped" about his nefarious activities in Scotland that became the line in the sand. I first saw this in March 2016 and after that I became rather obsessed in an almost Johnny Smith of the Dead Zone way. I had read that book for about the fifth time the previous year and the resemblance of Greg Stilson to "You know Q" was eerily uncanny
As a kid, I had been obsessed with the George Orwell books "1984" and "Animal Farm" along with the rise of the third Reich, Stalin, Idi Amin and just about any tin pot dictator as well as their opponents. People such as Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela etc. I guess I was just fascinated with the nature of power, Those who wield it, those who want it and those who want to subvert it. Come to think of it, a certain Jesus of Nazareth was a master at that sort of thing.
After 10 months or so, I decided to graduate from stalking to trolling and what better way to do that than to sign up to Twitter which I did in December 2016
So I found all sorts of interesting creatures posting on the trump twitter feed and began to follow them. I did not actually follow the Donald but just added him to a list so as not to boost his twitter numbers. The only sorts of numbers he has ever cared about
It was fun at first snarking the jerk but soon I realized that to merely read his twitter feed and inane utterances at pathetic excuses for press conferences and Chopper Talk, it was to watch the mind of an egotistical sadistic nihilistic narcissistic monster. BEAST 66 so to say
I figured that his arrogance, malevolence, incompetence and refusal to do the basic requirements of the job such as read his daily intelligence briefings was going to lead to a serious shit show sooner rather than later.
His total disregard for precedent, decency, honour and everything that matters seemed to lead to the potential for being the worst US president ever. But that would take a tremendous effort due to GWB's astonishing incompetent and criminal invasion of Iraq on false pretenses
One would have to be exceptionally appalling to exceed the body count of GWB.
And for me, unlike many others, all bodies count, not just the American ones.
I figured during the impeachment trials that at least he has only 10 months to go. He is running out of time to do something really bat shit crazy after his threats of nuclear annihilation of Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, North Korea and Iran came to nothing
But that was before he stuck his head in the sand and hoped the coronavirus would just go away and kept telling everyone so
It was like a train wreck that I was watching and just could not turn away from
The total denial, the talk of opening up the country for Easter, the full churches, etc and the substitute hate rallies masquerading as coronavirus briefings, with creepy Kushner, Mr Pillow and the ritual abuse of reporters, the pitting of states against each other to obtain precious supplies and the endless exhortations to be be nice OR ELSE was like straight from the Hunger Games
So I came to the trump party and have now ended up as a de facto witness to what can only be described as DEMocide.
Incompetence is dangerous on its own but combined with malevolence, it is truly lethal
But the trumptanic is now leaking like a sieve.
Not just cutting funding to the CDC and American epidemiologists on the ground in China, not just ignoring the pandemic playbook left by Obama during the transition time of January 2017, but also the refusal to listen to the scenarios set out by his own White House economic advisors from September 2019, 17 intelligence agencies in January 2020 and a whole bunch of other warnings from experts
trump has sacrificed knowledge for his ego and so called gut instinct and the lives of thousands of people on the altar of Mammon and his inflated sense of his own importance
The GOP guttersnipes gave him the green light with that acquittal in the Senate and now they still slink about and grovel adoringly like fawning sycophants
trump would be a toothless vulture without these enabling lying monkeys who sold their souls for less than a mess of potage.
So for now there is no hope and no resurrection. No light at the end of the tunnel
Just the never ending desecration and despair of a very long and dark Bad Friday

"If you think education is expensive, then try guessing the cost of ignorance"
