Pink and Fluffy Goodness
12/07/2007 09:21 pmIzzie has been a most restrained serpent indeed. Resisted the temptation to go to the Wednesday showings of a certain movie. Not just because it would be a waste of a glorious sunny day but because the Izzie was not in a mood for rushing around like a headless serpent - and most certainly not after being up since 5.30am for work
Instead, broomed back from work, scrubbed the scales and snoozed in the garden before going on an afternoon coffee crawl just after 3pm.
A new cafe has opened at one of our usual haunts. Especially happy that it's open late. The gorgeous Secret Garden Cafe closes at 5pm which does not really give much lurking time - especially in winter.
And unlike the Secret Garden, they got a very good selection of newspapers and magazines and very large fishbowl sized bowls for coffee junkies.
So - it's a good place for a rainy day or late lurking.
The usual ritual of first looking at the cartoons and letters pages in the paper gave way to looking for the movies. But while all Wednesday's sessions were listed, nothing at all for Thursday. Had the inspired idea later of looking in Cyberia. After all, did not want to waste valuable time peeking in the papers early this morning
Was so so glad to have waited. Today was grey and cloudy so just a perfect day for movies. And the Izzie had lots more time to get all pinked up. Our special outfit will also come in most useful tomorrow too when chairing the Friday public speaking meeting. The topic just happens to be "Live and Learn" Yessss. Never mind the black - it's going to be a very Pink Friday 13th
Gonna be a good little Izzie and post no serious spoilers yet - only to say that we are so so looking forward to Cleolinda Jones getting her Quick Quotes Quill on this. Lots of Snarry possibilities
But now it's been confirmed beyond all possible doubt that movie Professor Snape is our most favorite character ever ever. Gollum trails behind as second and we thinks Dolores deserves the bronze
She's just too damned bad to be believable but is so so much fun.
Unlike the last Potter movie, there was no major stuff ups such as the pathetic efforts of Wormtail to revive his Lord and Master which should have failed miserably for not following proper procedures to the letter, or that tiresome and seemingly never ending dragon chase. (But we guess you got to schedule a toilet break in at some time)
The boring Grawp stuff did not get dragged out too long but there was just a sense of overwhelming greyness and lack of colour most of the time. But the politics more than made up for it.
Except of course of the ever so pretty pastel pinkness and all those pussy cat plates in dearest Dolores's office. We wants them!
Was very impressed how the movie followed the spirit rather than the letter of the story. Funny how both the last two movies were very well structured but from books that sort of rambled all over the place while the exact opposite happened in the first two movies where the whole was infinitely less than the sum of the parts - many of which were actually very good (The first potions lesson is probably still our favorite scene of all five movies)
Will be back again for another fix tomorrow - this time looking out for all those little details and bits of dialogue missed due to little monsters munching popcorn most loudly indeed. For a so called M rated movie - surprised at how many 7 and 8 year olds were there.
