izmeina: (Don't panic)
Snatched from [livejournal.com profile] cat_irix

Oh. So Izzie's not an evil green python but a sad sociopathic asp. Well - it's certainly a good excuse for our quirky strangeness
Funny - as a flobberworm - used to think the Izzie was autistic. Aspergers' hadn't been invented in those day or was at least not widely known. But autism was probably too extreme.

Was most intrigued with the question about hot humid horrid sticky weather. Not sure what on earth it's got to do with Asperger's but it's certainly Izzie's idea of the weather from hell

Interesting how so many strange creatures slink about in Cyberia.

Been a lazy day in the Lair. Decided to indulge in the luxury of just lurking, snoozing and generally pottering in the garden
There was a bunch of weeds to be planted - the last baby banksia, kangaroo paws and other strange Australian specimens. Also got a pretty large white grevillea and a bay laurel in a pot but they are still there waiting to find a new spot since they are rather big in their pots

Another big project was to tidy up the tangle of nasturtiums that are just about strangling everything as well as pulling up the last of the broad beans and tossing them in a very large pile to rot. Got out the old pruning shears and had a go at the orange tree which is getting just too big and bushy with a whole bunch of leaves that never see the sun. There's still some oranges hanging on that are still green due to lack of light
So it seemed quite mean to be trimming off tons of twigs - many with pea sized green orange babies - must have lopped at least 60 of them. But it makes more sense to have less but larger fruit and mainly in the spots that get the sunshine

After that was time to slink inside to gobble a big pot of freshly picked silver beet. Is strange - the other week, was stealing snippets of soil from a shady bit where nothing grows. It was full of old pumpkin seeds. Got to thinking - what a silly serpent. Those seeds were from the days of house elf slavery when Izzie used to work in a kitchen. Used to bring home the pumpkin seeds and skins and lots of cabbage leaves to feed the worms

Got to thinking - no reason why we cannot do that now. There's a supermarket and vegie shop only five mins walk down the road and not only can we get free raw materials to feed the soil with but also foam boxes to make a proper worm farm with. All these resources on our front door and nothing needed but a bit of inspiration to think of them. And there's also the local Lotto agent but it wasn't Izzie who won the big fat $$30 million last Tuesday. Must be the biggest prize ever for a single winner.

So got the boxes on Saturday and now is only a matter of making a nice little nest and then getting some special worms to live there.

The rest of the day was spent indulging in nostalgia about the Izzie adventures last year on the streets of Vienna and the bestest Halloween ever.
Should have got out those Oblaten and packets of spice to make some proper Lebkuchen but once again the Izzie has been lazy. Will end up just putting some bay leafs in the box so the weevils don't gobble them.
