The Green Zone

If anyone told me this time last week that I'd be having the time of my life slinking around the wards on the 7th floor, I would have died laughing.
I think I'm rather taking a shine to my now Official Status as post post Menopausal Old Hag. Or maybe I should make that Dinosaur. Now that I've got all that extra belly space to store those hoarded rights.
It's quite possible that landing & staying in the Green Zone for so long is less due to luck & more due to the side effects of all those DD analgesics.
If it's the latter, I will make the most of it.
I'd like to think that some of my luck is due to the ancient picture of Petunia presently sitting on my bedside table.
It was taken when she was training to be a nurse back in the old days.
She looked very happy & beautiful in her Pre- Grinch days. Before he sucked the life out of her.
I was unlucky in the genetic lottery that I did not get her looks. It was a bit hard to insist that I was a changeling baby when I looked the spitting image of the Grinch.
But I did get her curiosity, blackest sense of humour and probably most important of all, her resilience.
I guess, after starting life spending 3 months in an incubator, everything else seems a breeze after that.
I got moved back up to the Penthouse today so will once again be able to sit by the window watching the sun rise.
Last week I was worrying about losing my 1,600 day Duolingo streak. Instead, I have ended up with my highest score ever. Not enough to win first place in my Diamond League group but definitely 2nd.
It helps when I have little else to do. No distractions of work, watering the weeds, cooking, cleaning the house etc.
I think I will sign up to this year's Nanowrimo. Also for the same reason. I've got to do something with the next 6 work free weeks. As long as that something does not involve lifting anything heavier than 2 kilos.
PS I normally put most of a post this long behind a text cut. But normally I only post on Dreamwidth when I'm using the Big Mac desktop with a decent keyboard.
Cutting & pasting using this Tweet Stone is more likely to end up accidentally nuking the whole post. I'd rather not take that chance.

Says the serpent who is so exquisitely gorgeous that her nickname in primary school was Medusa.
I know it's kind of twee, the saying that real beauty comes from within, but I do believe, without the Twinkle in your eye you can never look truly beautiful.
Likewise, if you have the Twinkle, you can never look truly fugly.
In the good old days when ABC Gardening Australia hosted the annual garden festival, Peter Cundall was the guest speaker.
Both Petunia and I joked about throwing our knickers on to the stage like at a Tom Jones concert. But the truth is we both found him gorgeous and sexy!!
A 90 year old Sex God!
I can't post it directly but this picture from The Twits explains it best.
