31/08/2020 10:00 pmOne of the perks of working in a charity shop is getting the first chance at snaffling the juiciest morsels. Of course we don’t get them free. Staff and volunteers get a 20% discount
Now and then we get the occasional item donated that is not suitable to sell such as kitchen knives or clothes that have slight defects that make them unsuitable for sale but too good to toss in the rag recycling.
But there are also other reasons for not putting things out on the shelves and snaffling them for ourselves
Last week a big batch of books came in. A lot of really boring Biblical stuff and a 50 year old set of Encyclopaedia Britannica worthless for anything these days except using the pages for crafts or for lining shelves in an office in order to look impressive and educated at the next Zoom meeting
A lot of the material was of the Norman Vincent Peale Prosperity Gospel variety
God wants you to be rich.

( God botherers and bankers )
