Alone Again
06/06/2011 09:46 pmToday was the serpent's first day back at work. It was a gorgeous crisp and crunchy sunny day. Much too nice for such mundane muggle activities but there's goblins to be fed and bills to pay.
The problem with holidays as enjoyable as they are is that all that time you usually spend working often ends up getting used spending
The serpent is not your average shopaholic and has managed to stay away from Amazon for a record 9 months or so - especially amazing considering the tempting exchange rate at present. Who would ever think that the Oz zloty would be worth more than a Gringo greenback
But even simple vices like coffees, cakes and other nibblies soon add up when indulged in several times a day
Decided that today would be spent at the Lair slinking and doing stuff in the garden. That amounted to little more than snoozing and bird watching
It was so so strange being alone now that the froggies are gone. The place felt so cold and empty. But the serpent will soon get used to it. Especially the joys of getting reacquainted with the library full of dusty neglected books which had been part of their territory for the last two years
The grand plan of listening to the book show's story about vampires while decluttering and tidying the kitchen benches got abandoned instead for curling up in the serpent sack in the dark listening to the little portable radio.
Still waiting for the saffron babies to show their pretty little purple faces. Elsewhere the broad beans are sprouting up everywhere along with buckwheat and lots of coriander.
There's also garlic and various unidentifiable bean sprouts
Soon the big box of weeds and trees will arrive from Diggers. Will have an avocado, pomegranate, blueberries and some dragon fruit to plant
