The Izzie has been all inspired to continue the good habits of the last month. November's rituals included an obligatory visit to Scrivener for at least 30 minutes before activating the Portkey to Cyberia. On non working days could shorten that in the morning knowing that the rest of the day was still there for squiggling but otherwise rules are rules.
So decided that this is a good habit to get into. Spent a good twenty minutes this evening setting up the folders and stuff for next November. Got lots of inspiration over on the forums about all the useful things to do with Scrivener. Folders for each chapter will make moving stuff around that much easier and will be needing to learn all sorts of useful tricks between now and next November. Must make the most of the nano mood before the sizzling summer saps all the serpent enthusiasm

The other plans for today were to leave the Lair around 12ish or so to go to Fremantle. Been a long long time since doing a coffee crawl there and getting withdrawal symptoms for the tasty morsels at The Juicy Beetroot and The Attic cafe.
But was overcome by a sudden attack of the snoozies at 11am so just slinked back to the serpent basket after an hour or so squiggling and surfing in Cyberia and slept until after 1pm. Sort of sad really. Now that is one bad nanowrimo habit that needs to go. No more morning visits to the Big Mac on days off. Unless of course it is 36 celsius plus when it is too hot to do anything else.
That is going to be the case tomorrow

It was very tempting to just lurk around the lair and do bugger all but snooze. But the annual arts and crafts sale at the old lunatic asylum is on only once a year and is one of the favorite serpent rituals.
Got there around 3.30pm but it was still sizzling hot and the freaking flies were everywhere. The afternoon sea breeze was not scaring them off at all

Just could not get into the swing of things and felt neurotic, claustrophobic and cranky all afternoon. Such a waste of a good day.
The big highlight is visiting the Felt West stall where a Dutch lady creates the craziest and maddest of hats. Got one last year and the year before and was so looking forward to indulging again this time. Had even made sure there was some extra silver sickles available for this decadent indulgence. The stall was not in its usual place and when finally found it could tell that there was no trace of her craziness. Lots of very beautiful hats but most tame indeed and a lot seemed to be made for babies. All cute and curly and very reminiscent of the wonderful Michael Leunig. One was even green and spirally but only a toddler could fit in it it was so small
Our worst fears were confirmed. The Dutch lady was not there this time nor were any of her crazy creations. No harm really. Izzie does not actually need any more mad hats it is just that hers were so adorably zany that the inner serpent just had to have them. And they are pretty reasonably priced for the work that goes into them and especially compared with some of the other stuff at this craft bazaar

Left around 7pm in the end rather than 8.30 as originally planned. The best way out of a hole is to stop digging. When feeling cranky and grumpy, hot and bothered rather than warm, fuzzy and toasty, then it is just a waste of time to linger. Went down to the capuccino strip for some coffee and cake and to read the daily paper before pottering off to get the bus just after 8.30pm

Been like this the last three days and hoping it does not last. Such a waste of two days off. Tomorrow will be doing nothing but snoozing before slinking off to work in the afternoon. Too hot to do anything else.
Also got to start catching up on Christmas stuff. Putting on the Grinch hat will just not do at all. Will be working 3-9pm Christmas day and 7-1 the next morning so will not be able to party too much this year. Looks like half the staff will be away on holidays so that should be most amusing indeed.
Worst of all is missing out on New Year's Eve on the beach but all the drama about the village idiots at work is best left for another post
They cannot get holidays right with five months notice, so not a hope in hell of asking for anything in four weeks time.
