izmeina: curly green leaf spiral (spiral)
September is one of the most beautiful months of the year here in Dursleyville. It’s real Goldilocks weather. Not too hot and not too cold but just right. An added attraction is the wildflowers and weeds blossoming everywhere and driving the birds and bees berserk with all the tasty nectar.

The serpent is making the most of the crisp crunchy sunny days and delicate light before the boiling bleached out glaring stare of the evil yellow blob in the sky gets turned up full volume some time in Summer.
Resisted the temptation of slinking in the garden this afternoon. Snoozing in the sunshine and watching the honey eaters nibbling the woollybush flowers and the rainbow lorikeets gobbling the weird red flowers on the bottle brush trees is a nice way to spend an afternoon or two. Although really the serpent should be busy planting chili, tomato and pumpkin seeds.

The orange blossom season seems to have been earlier and shorter than usual this year. Or maybe that was due to spending so much time at Petunia's place. The fragrance also seems to be less noticeable in the rain

Will be spending as much time possible visiting Kings Park to see the wild flowers in bloom, watch the kookaburras and other feathered creatures and go tourist watching.
Kings Park is a very large area of bushland overlooking the city and the source of constant annoyance to countless real estate agents and government officials who cannot sell the place off to the highest bidders due to the foresight of their ancestors some one hundred years ago who had the brains to anchor its 'white sacred site' status into cold hard legislation

Been noticing for many years that the Izzie always has a sense of excitement, hope, joy, creativity and all sorts of happy fuzzy warm and toasty feelings around this time of year. Of course it must be the juicy new growth of spring. Funny it took so long to put two and two together
Everything is green and growing and all the flowers are blooming and birds and other critters darting about. But some time around November after increasing heat and no rain, things start to change. It gets hot and humid and the plants start shrivelling and stressed out and some of the humans do too.

It's also strange how after scribbling some 1,600 words a day for August, hardly managed to put a sentence or two together for the first week of this month.
Did do a bit of brainstorming to find some central theme to build the story for this November's nanowrimo adventure but not getting anywhere at all.
Here's hoping that trawling through August's pile of 50,000 words will yield some interesting story seeds. Still not had a proper look at the stash due to an overindulgence in procrastination

Will be off sniffing the banksia flowers and shuffling the cards over the next few days and hoping for some inspiration
